In past years, September has sometimes been a pizza run, but this time we are going to have a Paella Fiesta, with a genuine Spanish chef cooking for us!
We will be running in the Ulu Rening area – we were planning to run at the slightly remote Panjang camp site (contact: 019 344 1407), but it’s a little too ulu for this month’s catering ambitions, so we’re at the beautiful Dusun Ayah Heritage camp site we’ve run from before, right next to the river. We will be running through the Panjang camp site, though, and stopping to play in the amazing stream there, with boulders and white-water as well as calm pools.
The hares plan to camp at Dusun Ayah Heritage on the Saturday night – if you want to join them, contact the hare, Robin, or the campsite owner (Effa: 019 926 6461)
Even if you don’t want to stay overnight, you may want to get there in the morning, to appreciate the natural environment and bring a picnic.
Please pay RM10 per car to the camp-site when you arrive, and then sign in:
- Members please remember to mark the registration sheet.
- Guests fill in kids’ details (plus a phone number) on the guest sheet, and pay the guest fees of RM10 per kid.
and PLEASE remember to sign out when you get back from the trail, so we know that nobody is lost. It’s very tempting to jump straight into the stream when you get back, and sit there for three hours, but please sign out first!
Instead of hot-dogs after the run, we will be served a proper meal – Paella, with chicken and vegetarian variants.
Fill in this form to register and pay in advance for the food plus any guest fees:
- Free for member kids (fully paid up for 2026)
- RM10 for food plus RM10 guest fees (total RM20), for non-member kids (up to 18 years)
- RM15 for food for adults (over 18)
I think you’ll agree that this is the best value paella anywhere, and it’s cooked fresh onsite by a genuine Spanish chef – let us know how it compares to La Bodega!
If you miss the sign-up deadline, turn up anyway, and hopefully (?) we’ve catered for a few extra!
As usual, we will have drinks for the young and the old, so don’t forget to bring some change.
If you want to stay overnight but don’t fancy camping, there are other chalets, home-stays and eco-resorts in the Ulu Rening area . They vary from cheap & simple chalets to posh chalets (e.g. Huda’s Haven), to secluded mansions that sleep 10 and have private swimming pools.
