Happy New Year!
We’re looking forward to a year of great hashing in 2024, and this beautiful Ulu Rening run-site (used once before, in December 2021) promises to be an excellent start. It has a large grassy area right next to the small Rening river, with direct access to plenty of forest trails.
Run-site: Dusun Ayah Heritage camp-site at Ulu Rening, in the Genting Valley and a few km past Batang Kali.
Travel Time: 70 to 80 minutes, depending on starting point
Date: Sunday 14th January, 2024
Hares: The Clark family
Registration: 1:20 onwards – registration may take longer than usual, so allow plenty of time
Run Starts at: 2:00 pm
This run-site is at a private camp-site, so please have RM5 ready to pay for parking.
You can also rent a tube for playing in the river, for RM10 – please make sure your kids know that you need to pay before borrowing them.
If you would like to camp there (RM60 per pitch per night), please contact the site directly – you can WhatsApp to Effa on 019 926 6461. You can see more details at fb.com/effaryanstore.
If you want to stay overnight but don’t fancy camping, there are other chalets, home-stays and eco-resorts in the Ulu Rening area . They vary from cheap & simple chalets to posh chalets (e.g. Huda’s Haven), to secluded mansions that sleep 10 and have private swimming pools.
Unlike last month’s party, there is no need to pre-register for our normal runs – members & guests can just turn up and sign in at our registration desk.
Members just mark the registration sheet, and guests must fill in kids’ details (plus a phone number) on the guest sheet, and pay the guest fees of RM10 per kid.
Members also need to renew their membership for 2024, by paying RM120 (increased from RM100 last year – our first rise in 10 years). If you prefer to pay by bank transfer (to CIMB account number 8007783962), please bring the payment confirmation or email it to onsec@kljhhh.org.
If you’re interested in joining (which brings multiple benefits), talk to a committee member.
EVERYONE (members and guests) must also sign out AFTER the run, so we know that nobody is lost. It’s very tempting to jump straight into the stream when you get back, and sit there for three hours, but please sign out first!
As usual, we will have hot-dogs after the run, and drinks for the young and the old, so don’t forget to bring some change.

The run-site coordinates are approximately 3.4903,101.693637
