Run #466, 1st March 2020 @ Serendah Recreational Waterfall

February 25, 2020 by hashadmin Leave a Comment

Run-site: Serendah Recreational Waterfall
Travel Time: 45 min from most places
Date: Sunday 1st March
Registration: 1:00 pm onwards
Run starts: 2:00 pm
Hares: Grigolo family

Our hares have found the best place to beat the steadily climbing mercury levels! The Serendah waterfalls and the lush green surroundings form a great backdrop for a Sunday afternoon. After the run, there is definitely some splashing in the cool water, so bring your towels and a change of clothes.

The place is also a good picnic spot for those of you who want to reach the run site early.

Don’t forget to bring along some pocket change for cold drinks. We may not have hot dogs unless we find volunteers to cook at the site.

Directions:

Look up Serendah Recreational Waterfall on Waze or click on the google map icon below to head to the run site:

-Exit N-S highway at junction 117, Sungai Buaya, set trip meter at toll.
-Turn left onto route 1208 towards Serendah.
-At T junction, turn right towards Sungai Choh, 6.5km
-At T junction, turn left onto route 1 towards Serendah
-Proceed 3.3km until you reach the traffic lights, then right right. This is the first traffic light after the Serendah police station. 9.9km from the toll. (if you see a Caltex on your right, it means you overshot – make a U-turn and turn left immediately after Caltex at the traffic light)
-Turn left after 400m (10.3km from the toll)
-You are on the right track if you see a school on your left. Go straight
-At the 11km mark from the toll, look for a blue sign that says CCRC. Turn left onto this narrow road
-Proceed another 3km, passing by the orang asli settlement
-Towards the end, just before the steel bridge, turn left and follow the hash signs

Alternatively, take the Rawang bypass off Jln Kuching and follow the same instructions as above from the first traffic light after the Serendah police station.

There is plenty of parking available at arrival point. This is also a site with public toilets.

Run #465, 2nd February 2020 @ Theravada Buddhist Temple

January 23, 2020 by hashadmin Leave a Comment

Run-site: Theravada Buddhist Temple, Semenyih
Travel Time: 1-1.5 hours
Date: Sunday 2nd February
Registration: 1:00 pm onwards
Run starts: 2:00 pm
Hares: Becker family

Gong xi fa cai!

Perched atop a little hillock, the Theravada Buddhist Temple is perfect for our Year of the Rat run. You may remember this site from 2017 if you’ve been with us for long. The trail is peaceful (only jungle sounds, plus the occasional “On On!”) and very scenic, with huge trees and boulders. The ‘long’ run will be a good work-out for the fast kids, and the ‘short’ run will be a good hike for the smaller ones.

There is no stream at the run-site, so no swimming after the run, but it’s a great place to relax and look around the temple. Please stay for the ‘circle’ after the run, as that’s an important part of the junior hash.

The kids will get ang pows (little red envelopes with money) as well as Mandarins, ubiquitous to the chinese new year celebration.

You could consider making it a full day out, taking in the “Ostrich Wonderland” or other attractions around Semenyih, as well as the temple and run.

Don’t forget to bring along some pocket change for cold drinks. We may not have hot dogs unless we find volunteers to cook at the site.

Directions:

– It is faster via Semenyih – it’s also reachable via Hulu Langat, but that will be slower for most people.
– There will be KLJHHH bunny signs on the B19, for people coming from either direction.
– Once on the road towards the temple, you will pass an ostrich park, a memorial park, some fishing ponds and a resort run by the local Orang Asli

There is plenty of parking available at arrival point. This is also a site with public toilets.

Run #463, 8th December 2019 – Christmas Party

November 27, 2019 by hashadmin Leave a Comment

Christmas Run and Party

This is our only run where you must pre-register – if you just turn up on the day (or if a long-lost cousin arrives unannounced), then we will try to be friendly and welcoming (as always), but it is quite possible that we will not be able to feed you.

Christmas 2018 Party graphic

For fully-paid-up members, the event is free (apart from drinks!), and just RM 10 for each parent attending. This has been made possible by our very generous sponsors (including AGS and Victoria Crest), as well as from the money we make from hot-dogs and drinks during the year.

Guests (non-members, including lapsed members who have not paid their 2019-2020 subs by 30th November) are very welcome, as always, for RM 55 (adults) or RM 30 (kids), to include the run, full Christmas meal, entertainment and a goodie bag for kids.

Run-site: Hash Heritage site, TTDI / Bukit Kiara
– park up Changkat Abang Haji Openg and follow signs
Travel Time: not very long
Date: Sunday 8th December, 2018
Registration: 11am (much earlier than our normal runs!)
Run Starts at: 12:30 (earlier than usual!)
Hare: Saint Nicholas
Co-Hares: Olaf and Sven

In Waze or Google maps, search for “TTDI the Hash House” – it should take you to the entrance to the site, on Changkat Abang Haji Openg.

This is very different from a normal Junior Hash event, but it still includes a normal jungle run (with short and long trails), as usual.

There will be a full Christmas lunch for everyone attending (adults and kids).
Drinks will be available for sale – that’s the only extra you need to bring cash for.

There will be games and entertainment (clown, etc.), and we hope that a special guest will fly in from the North Pole.

The committee and volunteers will try to make it a perfect day for everyone, but it’s up to everyone to decide how to enjoy it – usually the kids run around playing madly while half the parents sit back with a bottle of wine.

Finally, a big shout out to our generous sponsors Victoria Crest for sharing their delicious halal sausages, and to AGS International Movers for putting a shade over our heads.
On On!
