Run #495, 5th Nov 2023 @ Hulu Tamu

This is the Halloween Hash

Venue: Hulu Tamu Orang Asli Village, near Batang Kali / Hulu Yam

Travel Time: 70 – 85 minutes

Date: Sunday 5th November, 2023

Run Starts at: 14:00 – Be there for 13:30 or earlier

Hares: Guus & Abel

Co-Hare: Spiders and other creepy-crawlies

The junior hash hasn’t run here since 2016 but it’s a beautiful spot and Guus & Abel are looking forward to showing you!

The short run is just over 2 km with some jungle, orchards and a stream. The children can play in the stream while waiting for the others from the longer run.

The long run is close to 4 km, and the hares promise that they measured it properly this time 🙂
It’s been kept easy on purpose because we want as many people as possible to do the longer run. The trail is quite flat (only 75m altitude difference). It’s a loop with an in-and-out part with an amazing waterfall at the end – breathtaking! You have to see it to believe it!

And don’t forget – it is the Spooky Halloween Hash! That means there will be spooky prizes to collect, some spooky snacks, spooky jungle spooksters, and a costume competition – bring your best dress-up outfit and accessories to win a prize!

… plus our usual cold drinks and delicious hot dogs drenched in blood-red tomato or chilli sauce.

A few things to keep in mind:

1) The last 500m of the road was quite bad, but the hares saw road works during their last recce, so maybe it’s better now, or worse 😉 Please judge for yourself how well your car can handle any tricky bits you encounter.
2) Phone reception is poor.
3) Space for parking is limited, so please park close to other cars, and please can the 4×4’s leave the easy spaces for the less chunky hash-mobiles.
4) There may be leeches – shh, don’t tell the kids! Long thick socks, and plenty of insect repellant, are sensible precautions.
5) The long run leads to a beautiful waterfall, but be careful not to stumble over the rocky parts!
