January 4, 2017 by hashadmin Leave a Comment

Run #429
Location: Bukit Lagong
Date: Sunday, 5th February 2017
Run starts at: 3pm
Hares: Marcus, Oscar and Lucas French

This is our Chinese New Year celebration run – please wear something red!

Google says co-ordinates: 3.258532, 101.638738
Or just click here…

START.

Get yourself to the Batu Caves roundabout on MRR2.
Proceed north towards Batu Caves and Rawang on the old highway 1.
This is the road that continues from Jalan Kuching to go under the MRR2, past Batu Caves and Selayang, over the hill to Templar Park (Taman Rimba Templar), Commonwealth Park (Taman Komonwel), and on to Rawang and Ipoh.
… but we don’t go that far!

Whether you’re coming from KL on Jalan Kuching, or somewwhere else on the MRR2, set your trip meter at the Batu Caves roundabout and head North towards Rawang/Ipoh.
Go under an overhead walkway at 0.6km.
Go under a Malaysian ‘Gate into/outof the City’, with clock tower, at 1.3km.
Go under road flyover at 1.7km.
Petronas station on right at 1.9km.
Caltex station on left at 2.1km.
Go PAST the left turning for Selayang and Kepong at 2.9km.
Wonder at the yellow Volkswagen hanging off the roof of the building on the right at 3.1km.
Pass ‘Wisma Eagle’ on the right at 3.9km.
Go steadily uphill, and take the slip road left at 4.8km … no particular signpost, except some ‘Malaysian Centre of something’. [Be careful, … if you miss this, you have to go all the way to about 6km, to 1km past Taman Rimba Templar to do a U-turn, and to remember to take the first traffic slip road (as opposed to a housing development one) off left to turn right at the traffic lights to join on to where the next direction will take you … signposted Kepong.]
Turn left just before the lights, at 5.4km.
Overshoot the entrance to Bukit Lagong – which is on the other side of the road at 6.4km – in order to take the next U-turn at the lights at 6.7km.
Take the second left into Bukit Lagong at 7.1km … carrying on on a left right angle at 7.2km.
Go down and over a small bridge at 7.7km and park in the car park and/or on the grass, both on the left, at 7.8km.

On Gong Xi Fa Cai On

P.S. Tasty hotdogs, made from Jarrod & Rawlins / Victoria Crest sausages, will be on sale as usual.

Travel time: 45 – 60 minutes (nice and close this month)

Run starts: 3:00 pm (please be there by 2:30 or 2:45 to register and warm up)

Hares: Lucas and Ava Ho

Directions:

GPS: 3.121352, 101.476028

Get on the NKVE, heading West (towards Shah Alam & Klang).
Go past the exits for KLIA and Shah Alam, and take exit 102, for Setia Alam / Meru.
Go through the toll, onto the Setia Alam highway.
After about 2km, take the first exit, sign-posted Setia Eco Park / Setia Damai / …
Go up the ramp and turn right on Persiaran Setia Prima, across the highway towards Setia Eco Park.
Keep going straight for about 2km, past the main Setia Eco Park entrance, and watch out for a hash sign (also watch out for a circular water tower on the right).

This is a nice area for running, but there’s no river this month. The run-site is open, so please bring your own shade (umbrella / hat / …) if it’s sunny.

From PJ and many parts of KL, driving time should be well under an hour – possibly a bit more from deepest darkest Ampang. Please try to arrive in plenty of time.
