Perched atop a little hillock, the Theravada Buddhist Temple is perfect for our Year of the Rat run. You may remember this site from 2017 if you’ve been with us for long. The trail is peaceful (only jungle sounds, plus the occasional “On On!”) and very scenic, with huge trees and boulders. The ‘long’ run will be a good work-out for the fast kids, and the ‘short’ run will be a good hike for the smaller ones.
There is no stream at the run-site, so no swimming after the run, but it’s a great place to relax and look around the temple. Please stay for the ‘circle’ after the run, as that’s an important part of the junior hash.
The kids will get ang pows (little red envelopes with money) as well as Mandarins, ubiquitous to the chinese new year celebration.
You could consider making it a full day out, taking in the “Ostrich Wonderland” or other attractions around Semenyih, as well as the temple and run.
Don’t forget to bring along some pocket change for cold drinks. We may not have hot dogs unless we find volunteers to cook at the site.
Directions:
Click on one of these icons to head to the run site:
– It is faster via Semenyih – it’s also reachable via Hulu Langat, but that will be slower for most people.
– There will be KLJHHH bunny signs on the B19, for people coming from either direction.
– Once on the road towards the temple, you will pass an ostrich park, a memorial park, some fishing ponds and a resort run by the local Orang Asli
There is plenty of parking available at arrival point. This is also a site with public toilets.
